Can the error "The optional value is null" be ignored without problems? Event code: 0x00AC0001

Thread needs solution

Hi!

I deleted a backup directly through Windows File Explorer and this is probably the cause of this error. Now, when I do any other backup, this error message appears: "Error: The optional value is null - event code: 0x00AC0001".

I ignore the message and the backup is done normally. My question is: can I ignore this error (activating the silent mode option) without fear of jeopardizing the integrity of my files?

Thank you!

Luiz, I do not recall seeing any reports of the specific error message you posted about, and nothing like it just in relation to manually deleting a backup file.

I would recommend running a Validation for your backup task where you deleted the file and take the Ignore option for the pop-up message about the missing file.

If you still see the same error message, then try creating a new backup task either to replace the problem one, or of a small folder just to test that a new backup doesn't give this same error message.

Hello Luiz,

The error is harmless to your backups. It is one of those internal messages that should not be normally shown to the end users, and do not represent any issue. The fix will be included in the next update in several weeks.

Like Steve suggested, you can always validate your backups manually or configure automatic post-backup validation.
