Cannot move from Fedora 18 to 23 on backup server

Thread needs solution

I have been trying to close down my Fedora 18 backup server (effectively running as a NAS), and replace it with Fedora 23.  But I am being frustrated by not being able to point the Acronis PC backups at the new server.

I have been running Acronis 2015 to the old server OK.  The new server's samba is configured the same way, but Test Connection always says Connection Failed.  I have completely opened up permissions on the backup directory to world-writeable.  No change.

I upgraded to Acronis 2017 build 8058.  No difference.  (Backups to the old server are still OK).

My PC is Windows 8.1.

David, have you given the new Fedora 23 server a different/unique name on your network and have you tried connecting to it by both the server name and by using the IP address?

Please see KB documents:

58004: Acronis True Image 2016: Troubleshooting Issues Related to NAS Credentials  and  58000: Acronis True Image 2016: Troubleshooting Issues with NAS Devices  both of these are still relevant for other versions of ATIH than just 2016.
