Can't connect to network drive

Thread needs solution

Hello!

I'm trying to map to a network drive for the first time using the software.

I'm setting my backup destination to the drive, by typing \\169.254.248.34\Files in the 'back up to' prompt.

A dialogue box pops up for the username and password, but when I enter them I get a "connection failed" message.

I have the drives mapped successfully in windows, so I know they work...

Any help appreciated!

Cheers

Paul

Paul, welcome to these user forums.

Have you checked that your computer is in the same network / subnet as your network drive.  Normally I would expect an address like 169.254.... to be a network failure address, i.e. one that is given when there is no network available.

I would normally expect to see an address more like 192.168.0.1 in a local network.

Assuming that your computer and network drive are both in the same network, then what do you see when you just browse for the network drive in the Destination panel within the Acronis application GUI.  If this is not shown under the NAS panel, click instead on the Browse option and look for the drive being shown by its drive name in the listing shown.

See KB 58000: Acronis True Image 2016: Troubleshooting Issues with NAS Devices for further suggestions on resolving this issue.
