Can't understand...

Thread needs solution

I tried a FULL backup of my disk where there are 275 GB. I selected "backup sector-by-sector" and I did not select "backup unallocated space". When The backup arrived at the size of 300 GB, I decided to stop Acronis.

What did happen? Why was Acronis backing up more than my allocated space?

Thank you

Do not select "sector-by-sector". It is unnecessary. All it does it increase the time used for the backup and significantly increase the backup size, with no benefit (except in specific cases).

"Sector-by-sector" includes sectors that are not in use, that have no data on them. You'd backup empty space for no benefit.

I use default settings.

The size of my backups just doubled.

????????????????

Thunderhawk, sorry but with so little information to work with this would be pure guesswork to suggest why your backups have doubled.

What are you backing up?  What size of data for the source selection?
What version of Windows OS is installed?

Please download the MVP Log Viewer app (link in my signature) and look at the messages written to the backup logs.

Do you do any disk defragmentation?

What are the sizes of your backup files?  Posting some snapshot images of the files, settings etc may help.
