Clone of System disk does not accept USB Sticks
Basic info: 1 PC Win7/64bit, 8GB RAM, 250GB SSD for System (C:\) as well as fore some files like Office, etc.. No further partitions on this SSD.
1 Acer Laptop (LT) Win7/32bit, 4GB RAM, 500 GB SSD for System and 3 further partitions (private data, Flightsim FS9 and FSX).
To be on the save side, I have cloned the corresponding System disks of both devices (PC and LT) separately, using also 250GB (PC)/550GB (LT) SSD disks. To check result, I inserted the newly cloned SSD disks into the corresponding devices and started the PC and LT. No problem with the startup, files etc, all ok. However, system does not accept USB sticks or my external HDD/SSD dock any more. Windows Device Manager shows in the drives area yellow warning triangles and failure code 10 for all attached USBs and disk in external dock.
So I decided to try again with an Acronis recovery disk. I established backup xxx.tib files, covering the system of PC and the LT separately, taking the properly working source system SSDs as a base. Then I recovered the system disks in PC and LT, which did not accept USBs.
However, also this measure did not succeed. No USB acceptance.
Changing back PC and LT to soirce disks, everything is wotking fine.
So, friends, does anybody have made a similar experience, or has a problem solving solution.
What can be done to really arrive at a 1:1 comparable clone , working then for 100% like the source disk.
Thanks a lot for input and gelp.

Thanks for your input, however I am not an expert. How can I disable Samsung Magician?
Thanks for your valuable input.

Christian, see webpage: How do I disable Samsung Magician? which has an answer to this question.

Christian, is the dock also a USB interface?
After booting from the cloned drives, does Device Manager show faulty USBs or does that happen only after you try to insert a USB drive? If they show bad on boot, can you uninstall them and then try to insert a drive again.

After booting the cloned drive, device manager (dm) shows faulty drives , if USB/ext. dock are already attached during booting. Of course dm does not show any errors, when nothing is inserted when booting. The moment, you attach an USB you hear the regular sound, but nothing happens and device mgr shows error code 10. Uninstalled and inserted again, no success. I guess ,the problem has something to do with the Samsung SSDs. Before I changed from HDD to SSD, cloned HDD was a 1:1 copy and worked like the source HDD, Strange....
Thanks anyway for your inut and advice

Steve, thanks, have deactivated Samsung Magician, rebooted, unfortunately no success....the difficult question is: why can a working WIN7/64bit system (source drive C:\) not accept external drives (USB and double HDD/SSD dock) after source backup and restore to another comparable SSD. Also oocal PC freaks in Vienna have no clue...:-)
It is also strange that this (code 10) system behaviour is shown on the PC as well as on the LapTop. Both systems however have been set up completely independant. No sytem files have been transfered from PC to LapTop or vice versa. When both devices have been equipped with SATA HDD drives there was no problem with external drives. Thats, why I guess it haserhaps to do with the SSDs??? But as I said before, I am not a system expert (rather a Flightsimulator expert :-), ..., with my age almost 75....
Thanks for any further input and advice to solve this nasty problem, w/o having to set up everthing from scratch, if the only working SSD failes.

Christian, did you deactivate (or uninstall) Samsung Magician on the original working source SSD before you then cloned this to the new SSD?
The problem, as I understand it is that Samsung Magician creates a filter driver when it is active and this interferes with the clone process and causes a problem with USB devices on the cloned drive.
See webpage: Windows 7: Usb drive not working after Samsung SSD 850 cloned which describes the same issue affecting Acronis and other cloning software.

Steve, I followed your advice and delelted Samsung Magician completely on the source SSD, which always was working fine. Furthermore I deactivated Samsung Rapid Mode, but left Samsung Smart Switch and Samsung Mobile Connectivity Service unchanged active.
Everything, as usual, worked on this "source" SSD. So I made a backup, changed the SSD from source to clone and recovered the System. After restart I had to realize that USBs etc still are not shown and marked as "device cannot start (Code 10)".
What makes me wondering is the fact that this happens on two seperate Computers (PC and Laptop). No SSDs are used from the PC in the Laptop or vice versa. I guess there is no chance to detect the rootcause for this mystery. I cannot understand, why everything works fine with the source disk, but not on the 1:1 clone/recovery disk.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Hurra, I found the solution: I installed on the recovered system (w/o Samsung Magician, etc) the Samsung Magician and Samsung Migration again...and it wotks, I have access to all USBs and external dock. I want to thank you for your great support and advice. Hopefully other colleagues with similar problems can find solution in deinstallation and reinstallation of the Samsung SSD Disk.
Thanks again and regards from Vienna

Christian, that is good news that you have found a solution to this issue by reinstalling the Samsung software on the cloned drive and your USB devices are now working again. It is certainly a strange problem that this can happen when these Samsung utilities are involved. A clone should be a completely identical copy from one drive to another but somehow this isn't truly the case when the utilities are in the mix!
