Cloud Login

Thread needs solution

Because of very limited internet bandwith I do not use any form of Cloud Service.

Does version 2017 still nag about logging in to the cloud everytime you start it, just like 2016 does?

I really only need a stand-alone TrueImage version, without any Cloud service functionality.

Marc, I would suspect that you will be taken to the Account sign-in page each time that you start ATIH 2017 if you do not sign-in, so in that respect you will be 'nagged' though this does not require you to use any of the Acronis Cloud services.

There is minimal bandwidth use by ATIH 2017 with your Account signed in - it is used mainly to check that you are up to date with the latest build version and advice you when a new build becomes available, plus it validates your activation status.  You can turn off the automatic check for updates on the Account page in the 2017 GUI, plus you can stop the Acronis services such as Sync Agent or Non Stop Backup that you are not using.

I do not believe that True Image has any truly standalone versions of the software any more, other than when using the Acronis Rescue Media to boot your computer outside of Windows, but even that has some network connectivity in order to connect to network drives etc.

I have been happy to have ATIH signed-in to my account and have not found any down-side to doing so to date.

So nothing changed then.

I do have an account, but if I login with that account TI 2016 keeps nagging me about not having cloud storage available.

I did buy the TI 2016 non-cloud version last year and was suprised to discover it still wanted to force its cloud usage on me.

Sadly TI has become more and more bloated through the years. One of the new "features" for TI 2017 is backup of Facebook data. Are they serious?

And off course TI 2017 contains a lot of fixes for bugs in version 2016 which should actually have been fixed long ago.

I will keep using TI 2016 as long as it doesn't get too outdated, but I will not be investing money in newer TI versions anymore.
