Deleting of backup jobs complicated a problematic

Thread needs solution

1. TI 2017 does list all my old backups done with TI 2014. I do not want that, how to stop that?

2. removing these backups form the list is not possible with the keyboard? E.g. Key 'Del' nor the key for the context menu does work. Why? What is wrong here?

3. How to remove all (over 30) these Backups from the list? Selecting more than one item is not possible. Why?

4. Though trying to remove one item with several mouse click does not work either (click at the drop down, click at 'Delete', then click at 'Remove'). Why?

Aaah, it takes 5 seconds to remove one backup!!!!!! Why soooo long? (Quard Core 3Ghz with 2 SSDs) And why no info to the user that the removing is still in progess.
So that would mean 3 * 32 clicks and many many mouse movements and waiting each time 5 seconds just to remove the unwanted backups? Why soooo complicated?  This should be possible in 3 mouse clicks and a key press(click at 1st item, click at last item with shift), press Delete, click at 'Remove'. Windows has good features for such operations, why is none of them implemented in TI.

5. Right click at a backup name does not work either.

6. The list with the backups scolls itself often to the top after 5 seconds after a backup has finally remove from the list.
But with in these 5 seconds it is not visible to the user that TI is still working on removing. So I click at a bakup, but a millisecond before TI scrolls the list to the top, and the shows the menu for another backup. Hell, what a mess.

Does anyone check the usability for keyboard or mouse? Workstations usually do not have a touch screen.

Chris, this is another old chestnut in many ways.

There have been requests from users in the forums asking to have an option/switch to say whether ATIH should scan for and add backup or not do so, but Acronis have not been forthcoming in implementing such an option.

The only ways that I know that you can remove such 'old' backup tasks are as follows:

  1. Click on the carat icon to the right of the task name, then take the Remove option, then further select to remove only the task settings (not the files) unless you want to delete the lot.  This can take a little while because it is more than just deleting the configuration for the task, ATIH has to also check for any information for the task that may be stored in the Acronis Database too.
  2. Open C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder and then open each XML .tib.tis file found there, check the task name shown near the top of the file inside <display>..name..</display> brackets and identify all your unwanted old tasks.  Delete all the .tib.tis files for those unwanted tasks.

Both of the above methods will take a little time to perform, and if you need to reinstall ATIH at any time, then those old tasks may well return as Acronis 'discovers' them unless you ensure that the backup drive where the files are held are not available during the first launch after install.

Any of the other interface / usability issues that you have raised in your post above would need to be addressed directly to Acronis - you can use the Feedback tool in the GUI Help section for this, or you can open a Support Case to do this.
