Difficulty with Errors attempting to build Universal Restore Disc
Universal Restore Issue
I am attempting to image a Windows 10 Pro x64 Dell onto an HP machine with dissimilar hardware. I downloaded the drivers for the new machine, but when attempting to create a universal restore disc, I get the following error:
Code: 262,158(0x0004000E)
LineInfo: 0x6983D207431790EE;
Module: universal_restore_media_builder_vs_40028
I am unclear how to fix this and I am unclear on, once it is fixed, how to actually put the Dell Image on the HP machine. I have read several support documents and instructions, but I am having difficulty interpreting them correctly. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I would recommend opening a technica support case since you have technical support with 2017 (plus all recovery issues are always covered anyway).
As far as UR goes though, in most cases, after you first restore your image to the new system, the only thing you need to do with UR is just run it with no extra drivers. After that, boot and see if you get a BSOD or not and if you do, note the BSOD error code and research it to find out which driver is missing or needed and then download it and add that with UR store.
NOTE: Just because you can move a system from one PC to another, does not mean it's always possible (due to bios and firmware limitations). You must ensure that if the old system was legacy, that the new system supports legacy and is propery configured in the bios to boot from it (secure boot disabled, CSM/legacy enabled). You must ensure that the SATA mode is set the same as the old system wsa too - they need to match. Also, when you restored the original image, did you make sure to boot the recovery media to match how the original OS was installed? If the original OS was legacy, then you need to boot the recovery media in legacy mode. If it was UEFI/GPT, you need to boot the recovery media in UEFI mode. Just like a new Windows installation, how you boot the recovery media, determines how the install (in this case the restore OS), will be configured - legacy/MBR or UEFI/GPT.
Please take a look at screenshots and suggestions for making sure your recovery media is booted correctly. You want to make sure that your recovery and UR are booted correctly when running them.
Regardless, if the old system is legacy and the new system is UEFI ONLy, there's a good chance you're out of luck due to bios limitations imposed by the OEM manufacturer, which is becoming a lot more common these days as OEM's are starting to phase out legacy mode and become more restrictive with UEFI as an answer to better security.

Thank you both for your responses. I believe I have followed these guidelines correctly. The Dell does have legacy mode and they both use ACHI.
When running universal restore, I get the following error message: "Cannot find device driver PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3A64&SUBSYS_3048103c&REV_02 FOR Windows 10"
I have downloaded the chipset and storage drivers for the HP. Unfortunately still struggling.
Thank you again!

HP usually has driver packs for each model. What model is your HP? The driver seems to be a pci based USB host controller.

Will it let you run UR as is without supplying the driver? If so, I think it would still boot but you might not have working USB ports. However win10 may be able to load a generic driver if it's connected to the internet with a working NIC.
