Drive fails to clone

Thread needs solution

I have tried using chkdsk for all of the partitions and there are no errors.  I have downloaded Crucial's storage executive and it says drives are healthy. I have disabled any programs that may be interrupting with the clone process but I cannot figure out the cause of the issue. I am cloning from a Crucial CT525MX300 500gb to a Crucial CT1000BX500 1tb ssd. If anyone can provide assistance I would be very greatfull.

Joshua, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to all OEM versions of ATI supplied with hardware purchases.

How are you performing this clone operation?  How are the two drives connected?

Please see KB 56634: Acronis True Image: how to clone a disk - and review the step by step guide given there.

Note: the first section of the above KB document directs laptop users to KB 2931: How to clone a laptop hard drive - and has the following paragraph:

It is recommended to put the new drive in the laptop first, and connect the old drive via USB. Otherwise you will may not be able to boot from the new cloned drive, as Acronis True Image will apply a bootability fix to the new disk and adjust the boot settings of the target drive to boot from USB. If the new disk is inside the laptop, the boot settings will be automatically adjusted to boot from internal disk. As such, hard disk bays cannot be used for target disks. For example, if you have a target hard disk (i.e. the new disk to which you clone, and from which you intend to boot the machine) in a bay, and not physically inside the laptop, the target hard disk will be unbootable after the cloning.

The Demon log you provided shows the following error repeated several time:

error 0x70001: Internal error: source drive not specified

The above suggests that Acronis could not correctly identify the source drive during the operation, i.e. it lost contact with it or was prevented from accessing it?  The latter is also suggested by a later errors:

Error 0xbe004d: Error occurred while creating registry entry.

error 0x40014: Access to the file is denied.

error 0xfff0: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

It is possible that you have installed security software that is preventing the correct operation here?
