Dual boot system (Linux Ubundu, Windows 10) Cloning

I have a 250GB HDD set up as dual boot with Linux Ubuntu and windows 10, and I want to clone it to an 240GB SSD. Before I endeavour in spending a whole afternoon into trying it. Has anyone done that before? I mean is it feasible or I will just spend my time in vain?

I haven't tried it as I do not dual boot anymore.  What I can say is that I think it feasible because Acronis clone is a bit for bit copy of one disk to another.  So it should just copy all data on your disk from the source to the target.  If your Ubuntu install uses a file format that is not compatible this might be an issue.  For compatible file systems look here

If supported file systems are corrupted copy functions can be performed by using a sector by sector method although I believe clone copies at the block level but this should allow all data on disk to be copied without issue.

What ever you do do not run the clone from within Windows, use the Recovery Media to clone.  A sticky guide to cloning is at the top of this Forum.

I would say it is worth a go, let us know if you get it done :)

As always, create a full backup of the disk before doing the clone, as things can go wrong.
