Estmate of time a full backup should take
Have just purchases Acronis and started two backups. Second computer backup of files and folders 65GB to external hard drive and main computer full backup of 186GB to the cloud.
Second computer backup going well and will probably take under one hour.
The full backup however shows remaining time of 30 days and 10 hours. Is there a problem here?
Thanks

No - am sadly coming to the conclusion I have wasted my money. Finished two backups just of files and folders, one at a time after pausing the cloud backup. There is no way that is ever going to finish - so far it says 30days!

How fast is your Internet?

Backing up to the cloud is limited by your internet provider's upload speed. It is common that the upload speed will be a small fraction of the download speed. On my Comcast connection, download is 15 times the upload speed.
You could run a speed test to find your upload speed and then calculate what to expect.

Please also note that Acronis will only run one backup at a time, any further backups will be queued while the first backup is active.
Cloud backups will always be significantly slower than any local backup destinations, including to local network drives / NAS etc.

Yup.
For reference, my ISP (VDSL) connects at ~74Mbps up and ~15.5 down, with downloads speeds between 60 to 70 Mbps and uploads at 15 to 17 Mbps.
Then there is the cloud factor. Some clouds are faster than others, especially if you have a free cloud..

With my 100Mbps/2.6Mbps cable connection it takes over 24 hours to back-up my system disk to Acronis cloud. You should also check your router's QOS (quality of service settings) which may be limiting data uploads.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
I am a lot wiser now. My upload speed is 38.18 kbps. I have posted a Ticket and am in discussion with Acronis and the advice I was given was to ask my ISP to increase my upload speed.
This has me ROTFL as anyone in Australia will appreciate. There is no way I am going to be able to do a Full Backup to the cloud with one click - ever. Latest figure was over 40 days.
So the best I can hope for is to backup some files and folders to the cloud in the expectation that it will still take a long time but if I do it a bit at a time it might not be so bad.
I cannot see how to stop the backup I have started. I have of course Paused it but I need to get rid of it completely. That is the first step. It seems to keep starting over.
Thanks

Look to mthe right ofmthe backup name and you will a carat (V). Click on that and select Delete from the resulting menu. Give it some time and the backup will be deleted.
If the task remains in the GUI click on the Dashboard on the left side of the True Image window. Wait while the app logs into your account and it will display your backup task. Select it and choose Delete. This should remove the task from the Dashboard and the Windows app GUI.

More by accident than anything I did eventually mange to delete the exiting data, before I saw your reply. I will make a note of it in case I need it again.

NBN?
I have seen some very rude comments about the way in which the Australian government has foisted NBN on people.

Apologies for going off topic, but I thought you might like some light relief.

LOL - typical politics: the original plan was fibre to the premises - new government got in and proceeded to dismantle it and now its going to be fibre to the node so from the node to the premises is old-fashioned deteriorating copper wire! I won't even get it for a couple of years. I can't even run Acronis while I am working as everything slows right down. Am uploading a few files at a time at night. Having paid over $AU200 for a 3 computer premier version am not too happy. Should have researched uploading to the cloud more. Would have been better off buying some more external hard drives.

I will not comment on the mess that is the Australian NBN. I appear to be relatively lucky as I am slated for HFC version, much better than FTTN (fibre-to-the-node) or fixed wireless. My existing HFC is good, but the upload of 2.6Mbps is painful - takes several days for full disk backup.

Is there a cooling off period with Acronis? I'd ask for my money back for any cloud subscription. (I am not a fan of subscription software, especially when it can cost more than Microsoft demands for Office 365.)
Before Acronis sells these cloud services, it should flag up possible issues with speed, perhaps even running line tests before it signs you up.
Maybe this happens.
I agree that a few external disks would be a better solution for those with slow Internet. But you won't find many cloud suppliers advocating that.

"Is there a cooling off period with Acronis?" If you are within the EU, then there is a statutory cooling off period - 30 or 60 days I cannot remember. Even if you are not, my understanding is that Acronis will give refunds, on a partial refund and a perpetual licence without cloud. I suggest you contact Acronis Sales Support.
