Failed to backup file or folder error

Thread needs solution

Here's a piece of the error log in a job that backs up files/folders. There are several such errors and they occur on different file types, e.g. mp4, and .pst. The error seems to occur on the same files even when using a different backup job. What should I look for to fix the errors?

The error at 10:39:36 shows up when I tell Acronis to ignore the error in trying the path "\\?\GLOBALROOT... etc.

Norm, errors related to backing up .PST files can be caused by simply having MS Outlook still open or active on your computer, as these files are locked by the application.

You should try to shutdown such applications when backing up their files if possible or use the options within the application itself to do the backup instead of using ATI.

Steve,

I don't think the files were open in any application, but I'll try again with all applications disabled.

Root cause, I think,  was a bad HD. I could not even copy the files reporting errors from one HD to another. I deleted the 4 or 5 bad files and replaced with backups from archived media. ATI backup then completed without error. New HD on order. Old HD removed from system, especially since I began having errors playing back music/video files. BTW, no errors reported with chkdsk and drive health reported as good. Thanks for the attention.

Norm, sorry to hear your HDD is going bad but glad that you have found it before you lost any important data, thanks for giving the feedback.
