File and Folder backup and TIB files
Hi,
I've been backing up files and folders onto a local drive which is then synced into cloud storage. The TIB files are now located in the cloud.
If I lose my entire PC, including the local TIB files that are stored locally, how do I restore from the TIB files located in the cloud?
I've tested this with test data and retrieved the TIB files from the cloud but there's no way of browsing\restoring the content from the recovered TIBs.
If I double click on the restored TIB it simply opens ATI.
Many thanks,
Sean

Ian,
I've tried that but I receive an error informing me that 'Recover cannot find version 1'.
If I ignore the message I'm also informed that it isn't a disk clone. I can't find a way of accessing the Tib content.
I've seen other forum answers involving XML issues but I'm coming to the conclusion that ATI 2017 is too unreliable to use as my primary backup tool. I've looked at various versions of the product over the years and thought that the latest version had finally come good but behind the neat interface is a barrage of issues that make it too unreliable to trust.
Many thanks,
Sean

Have you tried verifying the *.tib file? The verification process should re-establish the link to version 1 (assuming it is still there). Try using the recovery media as it does not rely on the xml file (assuming that is the origin of the problem), if you have not already done so.
On a similar issue this afternoon I tried to mount an *.tib file and was told that a drive letter could not be assigned to it ... I could open it in Windows Explorer without any problems.

Sean, I would like to clarify a couple of things here please.
- Can you open the original local .TIB files (before these get sync'd to the Cloud) using Explorer double-click or Mount as drive letter?
- What size are these .TIB files and how exactly are you sync'ing these and to which specific Cloud? Is this all being done using ATIH to do both the sync, and going to the Acronis Cloud, or is there something else involved here?
- ATIH since 2015 doesn't use XML files for the Database where information about backup history is stored. XML files are used to store task configuration in the Scripts folder.
- You wrote: "If I ignore the message I'm also informed that it isn't a disk clone." Sorry but where does the reference to 'disk clone' come from - I have never seen any messages that mention clone unless using the Clone Wizard? .TIB files have nothing to do with disk clones, they are backup image archive files, akin to a zip file.

There is a remote possibility that there is a problem with your ATI 2017 installation - try a repair installation and see if that fixes things.

Hello Sean,
Probably you attempted to browse contents of an incremental backup without having all the previous incrementals in the same folder with the recovered .tib file and the full backup.
Please using backup feature instead of synchronization and choosing "Acronis Cloud" as destination for your data.

Slava
