first impressions

Thread needs solution

They say first impressions create lasting impressions.I have used Acronis for many years now and always enjoyed the extra advantages of newer vesrions

Having now just upgraded to to 2017 first impressions are ---well shocked.  I dotn want to always have to log in to my accounn to use it, teh interface is horrible, I haven';y yert found the nice easy to use interface to accompoce the PRIME PURPOSE of Acronis drive image  i.e. to easily quickly perform a drive image backup. It is cluttered up with everythign else except the one thing I need it for.I am sure I will eventually find it and I just hope there is a way to configure the interface to ge

t it to look to something akin to what I am used to.

I would be interested in hearing how  other long time users upgrading to this are getting on?

I am seriously thinking of ditching it and askign for a refund.  It is such a shoc to the system.  before I coudl easily quickly set up a drive image backup, set the optiosn I wanted and off it went.  No messign around signing in to my account, tryign to find where in the worlds they have hidden drive image, so messing wirth online dashboards (whicvh wont work whebn off lien which is when I nornally do backups)

Any one else found it the same? Would be interested to hear,

It's different than 2014 and earlier, that's for sure.  A lot of folks are opposed to change and rightly so in many cases.  When we're used to a product working well and have gotten used to how it works, changing the UI can create a real learning curve.  Change isn't always bad though and there are some benefits to the new product... a lot geared to those who do want/apprciate Cloud backup, but there's also better driver support, UEFI compatibility, etc.

Overall, once you get past the learning curve, it's not difficult to configure and becomes easy again... and, under the hood, is still the same Acronis we like (plus some new stuff that me may or may not like, but we have work-a-rounds like disabling some of the new services we don't want/need too).  That said, Acronis has added a bunch of new/extra stuff and ditched some of the old stuff (that we like too).  I don't think you're alone with your thoughts on the product, but I also don't think it's as bad as you're feeling right now since you haven't had a chance to use it much yet and are still under the shock of the changes.  It's different... like how MS Office was different when we moved from 2003 to 2007 (but now we're using Office 2010, 2013 and 2016 and it still has the same look and feel as 2007 and the UI changes aren't as drastic).

As for the account, it's not a requirement to sign in, but if you don't, then you have to click past it each time.  Even if you don't plan to use the dashboard, or cloud, or anything like that, signing in has the benefit of automatically registering the product for you (and no longer seeing the login prompt).

PLEASE, do submit feedback directly in the app to Acronis and give it a little time before you make the final call to refund.
