I have run the clean up tool and tried an install of 2017 5554 after the reboot to no avail.

What OS are you using, and is it 64 bit or 32 bit?
So a google comes up with this:
https://kb.acronis.com/content/8305
So try redownloading the package (perhaps from a different browser) and temporarily disabling your virus scanner.
Is windows update up to date (esp important with Windows 7), if not please make sure it's updated.

as far as I can tell the vaild win32 error is a generic error they use after deal with support the msi installer log shows

For what it's worth try chkdsk /R and DISM (google for detals), otherwise I pass over to the experts :( Sorry. I assume you aren't using virtual machines either.

thanks for your help AlexS still no joy :( I'll wait for escilation or perhaps someone else may have some ideas :) but to answer yep tried that and no virtualization.

Joshua,
Are you installing the application using an administrator account on Windows? If not you will need to as doing so is required for installing True Image.
- Log in to post comments

yes I am, I have even right clicked and chose run as administrator, I have tried to run the installer in windows 8 and windows 7 compatability modes. I also had a tech from acronis do about 50 different install attempts to no avail.

Joshua,
Your syptoms indicate a failure of the MSI installer probably due to an errant leftover from a previous install of a prior version of True Image. My suggestion is to wait for a response from Tech Support. They will need to investigate your MSI installer log to find the underlying issue and a fix for the problem.
- Log in to post comments

I appreciate the advice but since I did a complete format of the hard drive and then the first install after booting in to windows was acronis and it failed I dont know that I believe its anything on my computer causing the issue...

Joshua, have you confirmed the checksum for the ATIH 2017 full installer being used for this install? You should see the checksum shown near the details for the installer version, date & time etc.
See KB document: 1855: How to Verify Installation File Was Downloaded Flawlessly

Joshua, there were some problems with installing the early builds of ATIH 2017 but none that I have encountered since 5554 was released, so I guess we will need to wait the outcome of your support ticket with Acronis support.
In the meantime, see KB document: 58722: Acronis True Image 2017: Installation Fails with "Subkey cannot be found" - This is for a different symptom but may offer some other things that you could give a try.
See also KB document: 56655: Acronis True Image 2017 and 2016: Creating an MS Installer Log - you may already have seen this given some of your posts above, but see also the links from these documents that may be useful.

Thanks I'll keep waiting for them.... I have tried the work around listed in the link already...

Hi Joshua,
Were you ever able to resolve your issue? I'm getting the same issue and have gone thru all the hoops, fresh installs, etc. and still get the error.
Thanks!
Dennis

Dennis, have you tried re-downloading the installation file from another computer? If possible, do that in another environment, in a different network. Check MD5 checksum, it should be cf30a0e48b1bccd61703e8b89f0a80f9 for the build 8053. If you still experience the issue, let us help you, open a support ticket here.

Slava

Hi,
I have the same problem and I solved this way.
My scenario was Windows 10 x64 build 1803, fresh install.
Tried with Acronis True Image 2015 build 6525, Acronis True Image 2017 build 8058 and Acronis True Image 2019 build 13660. All installers gave me the same unknown error: "Installation failed" and in details "Error details: %1 is not a valid Win32 application". Not very useful nor descriptive error message if you ask me.
While I was running the installer, I notices that two errors arose up in the Windows Event Log
The first one with Event ID 26:
The description for Event ID 26 from source Application Popup cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\tib.sys failed to load
And immediately after that one, another with Event ID 7000:
The Acronis TIB Manager service failed to start due to the following error: Acronis TIB Manager is not a valid Win32 application.
What I did to discover the cause was to install Acronis True Image on a Windows 7 machine. In that OS it installed perfectly, after that I copied the tib.sys file from %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\tib.sys to the Windows 10 Machine.
Using RegEdit on the Win7 machine, I exported the regkey related to the driver in question to a couple of reg files
The related keys are on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\tib, and on
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_TIB
Then I copied the two resulting reg files to the Windows 10 machine and imported then into the registry. After the import operation, Windows 10 sent me a notification talking something about a feature called "code integrity" and "memory integrity" and some kind of incompatibility with the driver I was trying to load into the kernel.
So, it was just a matter of disabling this feature which can be found on Windows Defender Security Center -> Device Security -> Core Isolation -> Core Isolation Details -> Memory Integrity -> On/Off and voilà. After I set it to OFF Acronis True Image installed without errors.
Hope it help others.

Erick A - Thanks, this solved it for me. I just turned off Windows Defender/Device Security/Core Isolation and it solved installation problem of Acronis for me also. Appreciate your post. However, I have to leave it set to off, as it will not turn on with Acronis installed. Hope that's no problem.
