HELP! - True Image 2017 fails to clone on reboot - COMPAQ CQ2000, Windows 10

Thread needs solution

HELP! (Please?)

I'm trying to clone an HDD to an SDD where the SDD is connected via USB (supplied by Kingston). I've successfully done this twice before without a hitch, with an HP Pavilion Desktop and Acer Aspire notebook, and using the same h/w and s/w.

Now I'm attempting to clone an HDD on a COMPAQ CQ2000 that uses Windows 10. I can run True Image to configure the clone. It's when it reboots in order to clone the disk that the trouble starts. I just get a 4-line message about the UEFI loader, then a black screen...and nothing. The LED on the SDD cradle is on but static so there's nothing happening.

If I power-cycle the PC it boots into Windows just fine (thank goodness!)

I've tried booting from a rescue CD, then re-running True Image - no difference; 4 lines then black screen

I don't have IGD multi-monitor option in the BIOS. (The BIOS options are really basic)

There is no BIOS update for this PC. I checked.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do next? I've spent hours on the web looking for solution but no-one reports the reboot failing so utterly.

Andrew, welcome to these User Forums.

Please see topic: [IMPORTANT] CLONING - How NOT to do this for some words of caution here.

I would recommend always using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media for this type of operation.  Starting a Clone from within the Windows ATI application will always require a reboot which in turn requires that the Windows Boot Configuration is modified to allow a temporary Linux OS environment to be created and booted from to perform the clone operation.

If booting from the default Rescue Media does not bring you to the ATI main GUI panel, then first check whether you have Secure Boot enabled, and try disabling this.

Next, what type of disk controller mode is used for your Source HDD here?  If it is RAID then you will need to create the alternative Windows PE version of the Rescue Media as the Linux media (or temporary Linux environment) does not have any device drivers for RAID support.

From your problem description you have a UEFI boot system and therefore the Acronis Rescue media should be booted in UEFI mode - this means that when you are looking at your Boot device selection menu, you need to choose the option that provides UEFI for that device where the media is booting from.
