How do I change the Backup name?

You can change the name of a backup task (although this does not change the names of the associated backup files). You select the backup taks and click on the inverted V which gives several options, including renaming the backup task.

Ian, thanks for your reply, er, no it doesn't.

I confirm that I have a) Selected the backup task and b) Clicked on the inverted V.

The only option is 'Delete', there are no more options.

Is there another way to change the name of a backup task?

No, not once it is set.  The backup task is hard coded because of all of the refrences in the backup database that call on the name.  The other hard coded items are "backup protection" (password/encryption) and "compression"

Now, the names of the files are not really pertinent for recovery though (with offline bootable recovery).  You could delete the backup job in Windows, but keep the backup files.  Then go in and manually name each backup.tib to the name you want (just be careful to not fat finger things and only change the name, not the info _b_s etc).

The recovery media has no database - all it cares is that all of the files are where they're supposed to be when you pick on one and that means making sure the names are all correct if you have changed them.

Ok, thank you Bobbo.
