How to get notification when Backup has not run successfully for X days?

Thread needs solution

Ian  made a great suggestion (set my TI account to give email notifications on error).

I set it to email me on errors or warnings.  My backup is just pausing repeatedly (and never runs). I got no email. I assume it's b/c there was really no error.

Any suggestions on how to easily get a reminder if any of my scheduled backups don't succeed within x days?

I see there is a Notifications tab within the backup project. But it seems to be just about "unsufficient space" or general operation state or failure.

Clay, the only option that I can think of for this situation (where the task pauses and never runs in order to generate a normal notification email or message), would be to use a Pre-Command to launch a background batch job which would check for the presence of an updated file in your backup location and flag up an error message if one is not found within a reasonable waiting period.

You would need to work out the details of how to do this yourself.

The alternative, would be to try launching the problem backup task manually and try to investigate why it is not running?

If you haven't already got it, then I recommend using the MVP Log Viewer tool to look at any logs that are produced for your backup tasks.  Link is via the Community tools.
