Hoy to restore Windows image system on mac

Thread needs solution

Hi everybody again, and excuse my english.

I have two users who are going to exchange their computers with each other. One of the computers is a Mac that has Windows installed in a partition (bootcamp). I will create a system image of each computer and then I will exchange them with acronis universal restore. Would the restoration process on the Mac be the same as on a PC?. I think Mac bootcamp install some drivers for Windows booting and I'm afraid that if I restore the image in the windows partition of the mac, does not works properly. Any suggestions ?. Thanks for the help!

Raul, as far as I understand, Acronis Universal Restore only works with Windows computers, not with Apple Mac / Bootcamp installations of Windows.

I would recommend opening a Support Case directly with Acronis to get a more definitive answer on this question.

Hello Raul,

thank you for your posting! I'm afraid this scenario is not supported due to Acronis True Image not supporting direct operations with the BootCamp partition. Generally you might succeed in installing a desktop version of Acronis True Image onto Windows running on the BootCamp - this will allow you to restore certain files/folders.

In order to restore the full system image, you'll need to boot the machine with a bootable media and here comes the main obstacle

Acronis Bootable Media created with Acronis True Image for Mac is based on the Apple Recovery partition and allows only recovery of images taken by Acronis True Image for Mac. No backup functionality, no support of archives created by Acronis True Image for Windows.

And a bootable media created in Windows will not boot on Apple hardware. So currently there is no Win to Mac and vice versa migration method, though would be nice to have..
