Including files

Thread needs solution

I'm trying the trial of True Image 2017 and notice the image it created is 300gigs smaller than other imaging programs. This concerns me, I looked through the program and it looks like it may be excluding files. I tried deleting all the excluded files from its list and am rerunning the backup. It still says my Entire PC is 437gigs and it should be over 800gigs of data. How do I get it to include everything?

Chris, the first point to try here is to use the Disks & Partitions option for your Source data, not Entire PC, as the latter can include all connected drives in your system, which can include your backup drive etc.

Next, Acronis will always want to exclude specific system files such as pagefile.sys, hiberfil.sys and swapfile.sys which in themselves can add up to a significant size.  It also excludes System Volume Information by default, which is where all your System Restore point data is stored, so again this can be of a significant size.

Finally, you should expect to achieve a compression of between 20% to 30% depending on the mix of data involved in your Source selection.

I can't get to the option of disks and partitions. The only choice it's giving me is Entire PC.

Chris, if you click on the Source panel where it shows Entire PC, then this will change to show other options.
