Incremental backups not visible after full recovery

Thread needs solution

Hi,

maybe I'm overlooking the obvious, but I ran into a problem restoring a full backup and it's incrementals.

I have restored the full disk stand alone without a problem, rebooted the system and started True Image. I expected to be able to restore the 2 incrementals that were available on my backup media. However, within True Image I was only offered the backup that was created on the full backup date.

When I added the backup (Add existing backup), the incrementals appeared and I was able to restore.

What am I missing here? Should I have selected the backup in True image that had the date of the full backup? Would the incrementals be offered after selecting the full backup (I didn't want to continue with the full, so I don't know).

Thanks,

Rudi

Rudi, welcome to these User Forums.

The key misunderstanding here is in the sequence of what you are doing when recovering your backups.

There is no need to take the approach you have described.

Recover directly from the latest Incremental file that you want to use and this will automatically follow the backup version chain to pick all other files in the chain and the full backup they are based on.

Please understand that each time you do a recovery, the target disk is wiped at the start of that process, so restoring the full then incrementals is wasting a lot of time as you are wiping all that restored data when you choose the next file and recover.
