Install crashes

Thread needs solution

Tried multiple times to install ATI 2017 Build 8058 and continue to get error 2902.  Was able to install ATI 2017 Build 8058 to 2 other machines.

BTW, posted this message a few days ago...still waiting for that "outstanding technical support" from Acronis.

Duplicate of topic: Problem installing ATI 2017

Steve,

Rather than using DVD media to install, I downloaded build #8058 from Acronis' website.  Install failed, same error.

I downloaded the Cleanup Tool from Acronis' website, ran that, tried to install build #8058.  Install failed, same error.

Apparently there is a log file created during the install.  How do I find it and what should I look for?

Also, someone at Tom's Hardware pointed me to an article that suggested using regedit to change a couple of the keys.  Does this error - 2902 - suggest this would be helpful?

Jim

Jim, have you looked at KB 46710: Acronis True Image: Installation Fails in Windows - for common issues with installing - that has details of how to collect the installation log.

Also see KB 62142: How to turn off "Controlled folder access" option on Windows 10 - which says that this can cause 2902 errors!

In some cases "Controlled folder access" option may conflict with Acronis software, for instance, it can cause errors 2902, "There was an error creating a temporary file that is needed to complete this installation" when trying to install Acronis True Image.

Update March 11th, 2019: the issue with failing installation of Acronis True Image has been fixed on Microsoft Windows Defender side. Just install all available Windows updates to fix Acronis True Image installation failure.
