Installing CLONED disk
Well, I wish I had read more of this before I started
I am Migrating a laptop HDD to SSD. I Cloned the laptop drive to a SDD without installing it in the laptop first AND starting from Windows.
I made a full back up (less than 150GB used) on a 1TB USB drive. Then I cloned the laptop drive to a Samung 850 Pro using an Orico 2628 USB 2 bay disk duplicator connected to the laptop with USB 3.0. I have also made a Bootable Media DVD disk
MY question is: if I install the SSD now will it boot or will I have to either start the cloning process over again from the Media Disk with the old drive in the (Source)Disk Bay or use the Backup Drive for a recovery to the SSD?

Thank you for writing.
Sorry if I wasn't clear - I used the Duplicator to connect the SSD to the PC only. The original Win 10 Drive was still in the Laptop
I did use Acronis True Image 2017 started in Windows 10 to make the Clone with The SSD as the target.
True Image did the Clone after insisting on a Restart - rebooted and proceeded with the cloning process with "Shut Down after Complete" checked. So it shut down and I have no way of knowing if it was successful.

Holly, thank you for clarifying how the clone was done.
It sounds like you should be able to take the laptop HDD drive out and install the SSD in its place and find out very quickly if the clone was successful or not?
The way you did the clone is not recommended due to various issues that can arise by doing this action from within Windows - see post: 128231: [IMPORTANT] CLONING - How NOT to do this!!! for background information on why we don't recommend cloning from within Windows.

Holly, thanks for giving feedback and great to hear that all is working great after the clone.
