Installing true image 2017 on windows 10

Thread needs solution

 I did the free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Even though True Image 2013 seems to work  on windows 10 I want to  install True Image 2017. Should I uninstall 2013 or is it OK to just install true image 2017?

Bill, the recommendation shownin the Acronis True Image 2017 FAQ document (see left column) is to remove any older versions of ATIH before attempting to install the 2017 version, so yes, please remove your 2013 version but also be aware that the new versions will look a lot different to what you have been used to seeing!

ATIH 2013 may work on Windows 10 when you had this installed on Windows 7 then upgraded to 10 but it isn't officially supported for use on 10.  You backups created by 2013 should be readable by the 2017 version but keep a copy of your 2013 Rescue Media (on CD or USB stick) just in case you need to access any data in the old backup files and there is a problem with 2017 opening or reading them etc.

I hope this is the correct place to post this. I just installed Trueimage 2017 a few times on Windows 10. I keep getting this windows error when I open the program. "Trueimage.exe has stopped working, a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"

 

 

Marty, have you had any previous versions of Acronis True Image installed on this computer before installing ATIH 2017?  If you have then please follow the steps below to make a clean install.

  1. Uninstall your current Acronis software normally via the Control Panel.
  2. Download the Acronis Cleanup Tool - link in my signature below - run this as Administrator.
  3. Restart the computer to complete the cleanup action.
  4. Install ATIH 2017 as Administrator.  Download a new copy of the installer if needed from your Acronis account.

Hi Steve! I was able to get the 5554 release to start and stay running, however; now I'm have an activation issue. Just keeps telling me to try again later. Thanks for your response!

Marty, how are you trying to activate ATIH 2017?  Are you entering a serial / license code or are you signing in with your Acronis user name / email address and password?

It is possible that there is a problem with the activation servers but only Acronis Support can confirm that.  You should open a Support Case if you cannot get it activated.
