The last backup has failed

Thread needs solution

I have recently updated Acronis Treu Image 2017 to version 5554.  It works just fine backing up to Dell desktops (Optiplex 9010 and 9020).  But on my Dell laptop Latitude E6520, incremental backups appear to complete but generate the message "the last backup has failed."  A backup file is produced, and I can restore individual files from it using Acronis True Image 2017.  But validation of the backup fails, and trying to open the files from Windows Explorer reveals no contents (unlike earlier backups).  The same is true whether backups are scheduled or ma nual, and even when a new backup is made to a new directory.  And the same is true when using a different external USB hard disk.

The inability to open the backup file in Explorer and the validation failure suggests that the backup cannot be used for a complete restore (Recover PC) in case of system failure, rendering the backup useless in that case, so I will have to try to find and revert to an earlier version.

The zipped system report is too large to attach.

If anyone knows of a fix, please reply.

Robert, please download the Log File Viewer app from the link in my signature and take a look at the service log files for the problem Dell Latitude system where you are seeing the problem with incremental backups.

If this system was also upgraded from an earlier version(s) of ATIH then it would be recommended to do a clean install of the latest ATIH 2017 build 5554 installer.  To do a clean install, first uninstall the current application normally, then download & run the Acronis Cleanup Tool (as administrator) to remove any residual traces and restart to complete the action before installing ATIH 2017 again.  Download a fresh copy of the installer from your Acronis account if needed.
