Licensing Question

Thread needs solution

Scenario:

  • 200 computers in company
  • Purchase 1 copy of Acronis True Image
  • Install that 1 copy on one computer only
  • Create a bootable USB instance of the backup/recovering imaging software

Am I legal from a licensing standpoint to use that USB on any of our 200 computers to make and put images on the computers?

Josh, welcome to these User Forums.

Simple answer to your question is No!  Acronis True Image is licenced on a per computer basis, and if you are intending to use the Acronis USB rescue media to support 200 computers in your company, you will be in breach of the licence terms.

I would suggest opening a Support call with Acronis to look at your company requirements and to consider if there is a better Acronis business product offering that would be better suited to meet those requirements.

ATI is primarily intended for use by Home users and not for any commercial deployment.  Acronis Snap Deploy is a commercial product as is Acronis Backup 12.5.  The main Acronis web site has details of the different products in this area.

Thank you for your response.

That is what my concern was but I couldn't really find anything in the license terms or EULA to say it against the terms.  https://kb.acronis.com/content/58522

The only thing we would use is the Rescue Media tool by just making 1 USB to use on all of our computers. We wouldn't be using any of the other features. We wouldn't be protecting or backing up any of the 200 computers with Acronis, all we would be using is just the imaging tool with the image being stored on a separate USB storage to image a computer with the base image we have whenever we receive a new computer.

Josh, please see forum topic: Acronis True Image 2018 License where there is a direct response from Acronis on this question.  Also topic: MultiPC LicensingI
