Move .tib without a problem?

Thread needs solution

Just want to be sure before I do this. I would like to move a .tib from one external HDD to another. That shouldn't cause a problem if I need to recover from it, should it?

Yes, it will cause an issue. After you manually move it the Acronis DB won't know it was moved. You'll need to go to the backup and validate the task. It will then ask you to point each tib that was moved to the new location.

Yes, best to validate right after moving. For each moved tib for that backup, you should get a prompt asking you to locate or ignore it. You'd want to locate it and point it to the new location. It will then validate the backup and when it's done, it should be fine. Don't forget to change the destination of the backup script to the new location as well, if that's where you'd prefer it to create them from now on.

You're welcome. Glad to help.

You can also use the move backup command. This will move the tib file and update the database at the same time.

Pat - I swear, in the 5 years I've been using Acronis, I never saw this - geez.  I feel like a dummy.  I think that's the first time I've seen anyone point this out to me and I should have known it was there.  I guess I'm used to folks just moving the .tibs around in Explorer and then trying to get it to work again - much simpler to do it directly in Acronis from the get-go though.  Thanks for teaching me something today.
