Necessary to format a flash drive (from FAT32) in order to backup Windows 10 partition?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

Can anyone advise me whether I need to format a flash drive which is currently (out of the box) is FAT32?

The File system and Allocation unit size would be very useful.

I want to store a Partition image of my Windows 10 machine on it, using the bootable media ATIH 2017 (8058).

I want to make sure that the image is a reliable 2nd media backup.

advice would be appreciated,

The FAT32 requirement for flash drives is for the bootable media itself.  That media requires use of the FAT32 filesystem.  If you are just using the flash drive as storage than FAT32 is not required.
