Not able to restore Data from BackupImage

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I try to restore some files from the following backup Laufwerk D 01.02.17 it is located on an USB Disk Named ASMT 2105 0 as shown in the "laufwerke und Volume" selection. (see fehler0.png) If I press the "Daten wiederherstellen(Restore)" button I get an errormsg (see fehler 1.png). On the next click I get the next errormsg (see fehler 2.png). Which stated that 250GB_full_b5_s1_v1.tib could not be opend. But the request to restore data belongs to Laufwerk D 01.02.17_full_b27_s1_v1.tib.

If I go via the Windows Explorer and open the Dataset Laufwerk D 01.02.17_full_b27_s1_v1.tib I get the message that there are no Data ( see fehler 3 + 4 png )

please advice

regards

Roland

Roland, from the description that you have given, it sounds very much as if there is a problem with the Acronis Database which stores information about your backup tasks, files created, history etc.

There are two options I would suggest regarding this:

  1. Perform a Validation for each of your backup tasks as shown in your fehler0.png image.
Validation will attempt to reconcile the information held in the database with the actual status of the files which are present on the storage destination drive(s).
Information in the Database can get 'confused' (corrupted, damaged...) for a number of reasons, manually deleting files using Windows/File Explorer, changing between different backup drives, drive letter changes etc.
When you do Validation, you will see pop-up messages like your fehler_1.png image, where if the reported file in error is incorrect, doesn't exist etc, you should take the Ignore option.  You may have to do this multiple times until the Validation process completes.
  2. An alternative approach is the force a rebuild of the Acronis Database information which will remove all the current data held, including your task history etc.
This can be done by first stopping all Acronis Services, then ending all Acronis Programs/Processes.  When this is done, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\ and either rename or delete the Database folder found there.
This folder will be recreated when you next launch the Acronis True Image application which will restart the Services and Programs/Processes too.

There is a third option, which is to attempt the restore of your data using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media (on USB stick or CD/DVD) as this operates completely outside of Windows and does not use or refer to the Database files.
