[OSX] Ensure that Acronis is not doing backup on mobile network

Thread needs solution

Hey,

I am regulary using iPhone's hotspot to share internet with Macbook.

Is there a way to force ensure Acronis True Image will not run cloud backups when connected to that kind of network?

Thanks

There may be a way of doing this using a pre-command; not sure what the syntax would be. You would have to establish a condition that is only satisfied when either (i) you are networking by the iPone hot-spot or (ii) networking by something other than the iPhone hot spot. There is a thread somewhere with a discusion of how to establish a pre-condition that the PC was attached to the home network - the condition was that it could/could not find a file located on a NAS.

You are using the MAC version of Acronis; not sure if pre and post conditions are available in non-Windows version.

@IanL-S thanks for a response. I am usin MAC version. Probably I can attach precondition and write custom script to handle this, but this is dissapointing that I have to do.

Fills to me obvious that backups shouldn't run during mobile network usage. Nowadays this is not an exotic to use 3G/4G network on your laptop.

I was expecting this to be out of the box.

Is there any practical way to push this feature into dev backlog?

Thanks for your help

FelikZ, to get this to the developers, you need to use the Feedback tool within the ATIH GUI (in Help) and submit this to them in that way.  You could also raise this as a Support Case directly with Acronis Support if you have ATIH 2016 or 2017 which both have upto 2 years of support.

This is a lot easier to do when the backup target is a local or network drive, but not so easy when it is going to the Acronis Cloud.  For my own Cloud backups I simply have these set to "Do not schedule" and run them manually on demand.
