Password issues trying to restore a backup from a DROBO

Thread needs solution

I back up my machine nightly. And now I find that I have to restore my machine to the state it was in last night. So I pop in my CD and boot into Acronis 64-bit mode. I browse the workgroup that contains the DROBO and find the directory that contains my backups and verify that it contains all of said backup files. When I select the file to restore, it says that I need to authenticate. So I hit the authentication settings button and type in my DROBO username and password and it says that it connected successfully. Except that it doesn't. In fact, I can enter any random user name and pw and it says that it connected successfully so I know that's not true. I tried ignoring it but I get an error when I try to restore saying that it "cannot find version 2". So my question is: how the heck do I get it to actually properly authenticate? I don't get why it says that it connected with the username/pw fine when again I can enter any invalid combo and it seems to think it connects.

Architekt, sorry for seeing no reply to your question here in the forum.  I have not tried to answer this myself because I do not have an answer either for why you should be seeing this strange behaviour where your Drobo credentials are accepted yet the connection is not made correctly.

If you have an urgent need to restore your computer from the Drobo store, then I would recommend copying the backup files to another drive that you could connect via USB for this purpose (unless it is possible to connect the Drobo in that way?).

Unfortunately, ATI 2017 is now considered to be out of support by Acronis (since October 2017) so you no longer have the option of opening a Support Case for this issue unless you purchase a Pay Per Incident method for this.

One of the suggestions in the various KB documents I have looked at is to try connecting to the Drobo by using the IP address rather than the UNC name but I am not sure that this would have any great bearing here given you get to the authentication entry box.

Another suggestion would be to use the Windows PE version of the Rescue media if you are currently using the default Linux version on your CD.
