Lse, you should be able to upgrade over the top of your ATIH 2016 installation without problem, however, if your 2016 was upgraded from previously upgraded from an earlier version or versions, then it is recommended that you do a clean install of the ATIH 2017 software.

The Acronis True Image 2017 FAQ document linked in the left margin column states:

If you already have Acronis True Image 2016 or Acronis True Image 2015 installed, there is no need to remove the old version and reinstall the software. Start the installation file of Acronis True Image 2017 and install the product. After upgrade, create a new bootable media.

If you already have Acronis True Image 2014 or older versions, you need to delete these first and then install Acronis True Image 2017.

In addition to Steve's suggestions, after un-installing I would run the ATI Cleany-up tool (link to the tool is in Steve's signature). After installing ATI 2017 check all of you backup tasks to make sure they are correctly specified. For ATi 2015/2016/2017 the specifications of the tasks is not included in the *.tib file but in an xml file. This file can be copied to a safe place and copied back once ATI 2017 has been installed. Cannont remember its location at the moment....

what / where is xml settings of TI 2016...? TO BACKUP... Also where understand if upgraded 2016 from 2015...? And to install 2017 from scratch I can using same install exe file...?

LSE, the backup task settings are stored at C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts where you will see files with the .TIS extension - these are XML data files that hold your configuration for the tasks.

There is no easy way to know if you have upgraded from 2015 or any other earlier version other than your own knowledge of this system, but if in doubt then do the clean install.

When installing ATIH 2017 you should ensure that you are doing so from the latest build version of the installer which can be downloaded from your Acronis account web page - the current latest build is #5554.

To do a clean install, first uninstall any Acronis software currently present using the normal Control Panel > Programs & Features option.  Next, download the Acronis Cleanup Tool (link in my signature below) - run this as Administrator then do a system restart to complete the cleanup action.  Finally, install ATIH 2017 (as administrator).

If decide install over 2016... this 2016 must be in latest upgrade, and also can uninstall if problems...? and install 2017 from beginning? same file 2017 install as upgrade?

You can install over any version of ATIH 2016, it doesn't have to be the latest build 6581 version, as Acronis will remove and replace the older version when installing the 2017 version.

In my purchase [5 computers TI2017] included ONE license additionally TI2017 --- But confirm email ordering have separate downloads for 5-computers and 1-computer license... so ARE different files the 1-computer from 5 ? needed download both...

The confirm email is from a third party and usually has a download for older versions.  Just use the download link in your account.  It's only one license key for each purchase - if you bought a 5 license pack, you use the same key for all 5 systems.  Grab your download from your online account and use that one tomake sure you have the most current version available.

Not sure about the free license - it probably depends on how it's listed in your product licenses under your account.  To be sure, you should contact support via chat as they're the only ones who can help clarify license, registration and account details and/or make changes to the.
