Recovery keeps deleting my non backed up partions how do I stop this?

Thread needs solution

I am using windows 10 home I want to be able to have a primary system partition and a media partition. When I  do a partition backup with  just the C partition, and do a recovery the entire media partition gets deleted and the C partition retakes the space.     I have tried everything and can't stop true image from doing this.  I used 2011  before and when  I chose to recover the C partition  it would restore C and leave all other partitions alone can anyone help?

Jeremy, welcome to these user forums.

From the description you have given, it sounds like you are choosing to do a disk recovery rather than just selecting the individual partition(s) to be recovered.  Doing a disk recovery will wipe the whole drive in order to restore all the partitions contained in your backup image file.

I have done restores of individual partitions on my own systems without encountered the behaviour you describe unless I have done a whole disk recovery.

See the ATIH 2017 User Guide: Recovering partitions and disks where in step 5. of the process outlined in this section it states:

If you need to recover separate partitions, click Recover specific partitions, and then select the partitions to recover.
