Selected User folders are not included into backup.

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I´m a new acronis True image 2017 user.

I have 5 licences and actually backup these 5 pcs to another network drive (different folders).

When i create the file and folders backup, i select user files i need (ex. outlook files, favorites and other folders) the amount of data is correctly shown in the window. but after backup start the amount of files are reduced and these files are not found in the backup after conclusion.

The folder "user" is shown in the completed backup, but empty.

in one of the machines, i could make it run, but no idea how it is working.

any idea why these files are not included ?

They could be files that are included in the apps default Exclusion list of files not backed up.  You can find more here:

http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2017/index.html#3…

This was the first thing i checked. And no, was not into that list.

I install now the patch 5555 and will run another backup to see.

Beacuse the files i selected in the user folder were not marked after edition of the backup.

After 5555 patch, in one of the machines it worked fine.

Another machines i get the same problem. will try to reboot and run again.

Updated to patch 5555. rebooted. same story.

When i edit the backup setting i can see the files "user"\documents\outlook files as selected and the size of the hole backup match. but when backup starts, size is reduced and these files are not copied.

I am attaching a link to default Windows "Files not to backup" registry key that True Image uses by default.  For your Outlook files these are considered Offline files so the exclusion in the application notated at %Systemroot%\CSC\  controls that.  Link appears below:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb891959(v=vs…

my

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsBackup

is empty

and FilesNotToBackup is found in registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup\

Offline Files Cache has the windows CSC folder.

I removed the CSC folder from there, but problem persists.

Also, i deselected all check box on sheet exclusions in the backup options. same problem.

I would suggest that you create a new task for the backup.  Do not edit the existing task.  With the changes you have or can make and a new task see if the behavior changes.

Well I am out of ideas.  Maybe someone else here on the Forum can help.  If nothing else the next step would be to create a support case for the issue.

I would second opening a Support Case for this issue, but ask one further question here?

Have you ever had an earlier version of ATIH installed on the problem laptop, if so, then I would recommend doing a clean install of the 2017 version then give this another try.

Do a normal uninstall via the Control Panel, then download the Acronis Cleanup Tool and run this as Administrator (link below in my signature), follow this by restarting to complete the cleanup, before attempting a fresh install.
