Sychronizing folders

Thread needs solution

I want to synchronize a folder on my desktop with Acronis Cloud using True Image 2017 under Win 10x64 and also the same folder on my laptop. This folder contains Word, Excel, PDFs, JPegs, files for example. It also contains MS Access files. Will this folder sync successfully.

Henry, please see the ATIH 2017 User Guide: Synchronizing data which should answer you questions.

Thanks, Steve, for your comment. I have looked at the Guide, which lead to my question. Is Access considered a "database" and thus not syncable or is it a NTFS file, which would be. I didn't get a clarification from the guide.

Henry, as far as I understand, the restrictions for what cannot be synchronised from the user guide:

  • Databases
  • Data of e-mail programs (including Microsoft Outlook and others)

This is because of the nature of these type of program files in that they tend to remain open in memory while the application that created them are active, and the files themselves may be locked which would require the use of VSS or snapshot to capture a copy, but which is not used for synchronisation normally.

One way around this would be to make copies of such files while the applications are not active and then include the folders holding the copies in the sync relationship.
