TI 2017 Buld 8058 and creators update.

Thread needs solution

My desktop was updated yesterday to the creators update and as a result my nightly backup failed with "The backup location was not found on the destination drive". This morning I was able to re-select the destination location and the backup ran properly. The other issue I had was receiving 37 emails telling me that the backup had failed. When I investigated I found that under Options-->Advanced-->Error handling the setting "Repeat attempt if the backup fails" defaults to 36 and is selected by default. The number of attempts seems excessive so I deselected this option. Last night when it failed there were 36 attempts following the original attempt resulting in a total of 37 emails. The default setting for error handling needs be adjusted to some thing lower perhaps 5.

I'm assuming that cause of the problem may have been a UUID change as a result of the update.

Any thoughts

Thomas, you are correct that the UUID for partitions changes when a major update for the OS takes place, in part because a new Recovery partition gets created, and reselecting either the Source data and/or the destination target to correct the issue as far as ATIH is involved.

For the error handling, personally I turn this off and use the option to Save as default for further tasks.  I too have been spammed by repetitive error emails when this has been enabled so I prefer to just let a task fail on the rare occasion a problem occurs.

Thanks Steve. I use the email so I know that the task was successful. Usually I get one. 37 was a bit over the top.

Steve, thanks for the explanation of what happening. I had the same problem on one of my systems.
