TI not starting incrementals after MS update

Thread needs solution

So I'm back in Acronis purgatory once again with Acronis not performing the daily incremental per the schedule. This happened a while back but then mysteriously corrected itself. Additionally, Acronis will not always start after the computer has been running for a while or perhaps after a failed scheduled backup attempt, I'm not sure which. It will start after a reboot but will not perform the scheduled backup. It is set to run as administrator as noted by the shield on the icon.

Once Acronis is started the backup window shows the failed attempt. When I try to run the backup manually I must first enter my Windows password. After that the backup runs and completes without problems. This is exactly the same problem I had a few months ago that magically disappeared.

Have you tried reselecting your backup task Source and Destination since upgrading your Windows OS to the Fall Creators Update version 1709?

Windows Updates can cause changes to disk signatures due to creating new recovery partitions.

The source is listed as "Entire PC" even though it is just the C drive and can not be selected from the backup window. I opened Acronis before the scheduled backup this morning and at the scheduled backup time the backup immediately failed. I selected the destination drive again after I did a manual backup and it too asked for my Windows password. I guess tomorrow will be the test and I'll see if that re-selection of the destination drive made the difference. One of the confusing things is I also have various folders and files that are backed up as a separate backup task and that is still working properly.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will post here when I know the results.

Steve, today's backup started properly. Thanks for the help. Perhaps you can respond to something else that confuses me. I am considering upgrading to TI 2018 but it looks more like a lease than a purchase. Is Acronis still offering a perpetual license or am I just reading something incorrectly?

Glad to hear the incremental started up correctly today.

There is still perpetual licences for ATIH 2018 - I bought 3 myself a little time ago taking advantage of an offer from Acronis, so have these showing in my account.  Just need to make sure you are picking the right product before finalising your purchase!

Today the backup failed and I had to run it manually and put my password in. What else can cause this problem?

Was there anything written in the backup task log for when it failed today?

There is nothing in the log files mentioning the backup failures. Today and Saturday when the backup succeeded I started Acronis before the scheduled run time. On starting I had to allow it to run as administrator as usual. When the scheduled backup failed I did not start Acronis first. Not sure if that means anything. I will let the scheduler try and start the backup tomorrow.

Still no backup unless I start it manually and enter my Window password. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I can only suggest raising a support case for this issue.

Perhaps you can tell me what the file permissions should be when looking at the security tab of the various Acronis executables.

If I right click on the desktop shortcut it and view the properties it shows the permission as Administrator as shown in the attached properties2 image. If I go to the file location and right click on the properties -> security it shows permissions as "all application packages" which has limited access shown in the properties image. Not sure if this means anything but I have nothing to compare to.
