TI2017 has disappeared after installing Build 8029

Thread needs solution

Hello, I hope somebody can help!

When starting Acronis True Image 2017 (TI2017) a couple of days ago, a popup appeared stating that a new version of Acronis True Image 2017 was available for download, which the release notes showed it to be Build 8029. I clicked to download this, which appeared to complete.

However, the shortcut to TI2017 on the Windows 10 start screen has now disappeared, although shortcuts for “new” versions of Acronis Drive Cleaner, Secure Zone and Startup Recovery Manager are shown.

I am running the current version of Windows 10.

I purchased an upgrade to True Image 2017 for three computers on 1st November 2016, and it has been running fine on two computers since then until this problem occurred. (I have not yet used the 3rd licence.) I logged onto “My Account” on the Acronis website which shows I have a perpetual license for three workstations. I saw the “Downloads” tab, from which I thought that I might be able to download Build 8029 from scratch. However, this asks me to choose between “Standard” and “Premium” versions, and seems to be asking me to buy an additional copy!

I still have the .exe file which I downloaded on 1st November 2016. Should I run this again to get back to that version of TI2017, or is there some way to get Build 8029 of TI2017 to work?

Thanks

You have a perpetual license so you would choose standard to download the perpetual license version of build 8029. It sounds like the install failed when you clicked download from within the application. Try re-installing using the file downloaded from your account. If that doesn't correct the issue then perform a clean install using the cleanup tool Acronis True Image Cleanup Utility | Knowledge Base  and re-nstall using the downloaded file.

Hi Thomasjk, Thanks for your speedy response, which I did not pick up until today. Since submitting my query yesterday, I've discovered that the exe file for build 8029 was created by the update in C:/Program Files (x86)/Acronis/TrueImageHome/TrueImage.exe, and when I clicked on that I was able to run Build 8029 of TI2017. However, the update obviously did not set up or update the shortcuts.

I'll try your suggestions and report back as to whether that has corrected the issues.

(Edit) I've just downloaded the standard version from my account, and ran that downloaded file. This offered two options, either to "Repair" or "Uninstall". I chose "Repair", which took a couple of minutes and then showed "Repair Complete" and offered to "Start Application". I clicked this, and TI2017 started fine and proved to be build 8029. I then closed it down, and found that shortcuts to TI2017 had now appeared on both the desktop and the start menu.

That is perfect, thanks very much for your help.
