True Image 2017 exclusions and backup scheme issues.....

Thread needs solution

I am a Professional IT contractor and I use Acronis at many clients. This question is regarding my personal PC's. Originally I upgraded to TI 2017 from TI 2016 on Windows 10 Pro. Since then I've uninstalled, deleted Acronis registry entries and all Acronis folder and files from the system. My problem is that I am choosing an incremental backup scheme but TI does what it wants to do and continuously runs a single version scheme every time. No, I do not have the check box that says to retain the original backup checked. Also, I have folder exclusions setup which are not being excluded. I did verify that the excluded folders are showing up in the tib file. I have two other machines running TI 2017 on Win 10 Pro and are not having these issues. Pulling my hair out here and if I can't find a resoultion I'll just have to choose a different backup software because I don't have the time to spend 8 hours trying to figure this out.

Jeff, welcome to these user forums and sorry to hear of your problems in using ATIH 2016.

When you say about uninstalling, deleting registry entries etc, did you use the Acronis Cleanup Tool, or just do these actions manually yourself?

If you didn't use the Cleanup Tool, then I would recommend doing so, running the tool as administrator then rebooting before attempting to reinstall a clean copy of the latest build 6571 version of ATIH 2016 (again as administrator).  This should clear up the problems that you have described.

The other tool to use in this issue is the Log File Viewer app (link in my signature below) which will show you what messages are being written to the Service logs that are created for each backup task.  You would need to use this before using the cleanup tool if you want to look at messages for the current issues.

Hey Thanks. Yes I performed those actions manually. I will try the cleanup tool. And FYI, its TI 2017 I'm having the issue with. TI 2016 worked just fine for me. This all started after I upgraded.

Jeff, sorry - another senior moment methinks on my part!

I find they happen more often these days. I had a major one the other day. Lost two important files which I had to recreate. There was some good news I found an error I had been trying to fix for ages in the Exel file.
