Trying to activate 2017

Thread needs solution

Upgrade successful but asking for new 2017 serial number to activate the 2017 version

Upgrade system autofilled old 2016 serial number in and will not let me delete/change to my new 2017 serial number

help!

Ocala, welcome to these user forums.

If you are unable to enter the 2017 serial number, check to see if you have an option shown to Enter serial number at the bottom right corner of the Account page within the 2017 GUI.

Try that option if shown, otherwise, I would suggest doing a clean install of 2017 and starting over.

Uninstall 2017 via the Control Panel or use Revo Uninstaller or similar.

Download and run the Acronis Cleanup Tool from the link in my signature below.

Restart the computer to complete the cleanup actions.

Download and install the ATIH 2017 installer from your Acronis Account online - run this as Administrator.

Note: if you have an upgrade version, you will need to enter both the 2017 and 2016 serials when installing - enter the 2017 serial first and it will prompt for the 2016 serial when it recognises you have an upgrade version.

Activation Problem -

Acronis 17 to be loaded; 2016 installed.  I just let 17 install itself, figuring that since was an upgrade, it knew what to do with the installed 2016.  Apparently not!  Although it installed, I soon realized that there were bits and pieces of 2016 still loaded and trying to combine with 2017.

The next step was to try to erase BOTH 2016 and 2017 and all of it's pieces.  I used MS uninstall and a registry cleaner; then I reinstalled 2017.  When it comes to the enter password screen, the text box for the entry is greyed out and will not accept input from mouse, clipboard, etc. The screen tells me that 2017 is off line also.

Can anyone please explain what I did wrong?

Download and run the cleanup tool Acronis True Image 2016: Cleanup Utility | Knowledge Base 

Reboot and then reinstall 2017.

If you have purchased a valid copy of ATIH 2017 and have the serial number for this, then I would recommend uninstalling the Trial version using the Control Panel, then download & running the Acronis Cleanup Tool from the link in my signature below - this will remove all further traces of Acronis software and allow you to do a clean install of the full product.  You will need to restart the computer after using the cleanup tool.

If you still have a problem after trying the above actions, then you will need to contact Acronis Support direct as we cannot help further with serial number or activation issues from these user forums.

I've checked the list of registered licenses under your account, apperently you have only an Upgrade license key Acronis True Image 2017 for 1 computer Upgrade. This key can be used only together with a Standard license key of an older product version (e.g. to upgrade from Acronis True Image 2014 or Acronis True Image 2015). If you do not have a basis key, you'll need to request a refund for Acronis True Image 2017 for 1 computer Upgrade and purchase a full license key. Please contact our support team for further assistance.

I have successfully updated to Acronis True Image 2017 on 1 computer, but not on the second computer. I have a 3 computer licence. On the second computer it asks for the serial numbers for the update and for the previous version. It accepts the 64 character serial number for the update, but does not accept the64 character serial number for the previous version. 

During the installation process I was asked to delete the older version from the computer. This was done.

Noel, if you have an Upgrade license for ATIH 2017 then this will always require two serial numbers, one for 2017 and one for a qualifying previous version.

If you have both versions of ATIH shown in your Acronis Account online, then try signing in on the Account page of the ATIH 2017 GUI (icon in shape of a head / shoulders) and see if that method will allow the product to be activated?  If not, then you will need to open a support case with Acronis to resolve this issue as we are also just users here.
