Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

My PC is at the shop, first diagnosis is that the SSD has failed, if that is the case I have asked the tech to replace with an Intel SSD of the same size. What pitfalls must I be aware of in attempting a Universal Restore?

Win 10 64 bit, TI 2017

If you are just replacing the SSD you do not need to use Universal Resore, which is used when restoring to a new system (new main board and CPU). All you need to do is an ordinary restore from backup using the Recovery Media.

Thank you Ian. Then I have two questions, if a normal restore, do I restore MBR and/or Disc Signature?

Yes, I would restore both. The disk signature which some programs use to validate the installation. Without the MBR I suspect the system would not be bootable.
