Using more than one external drive to create a backup drive set

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I want to use 2 different external USB drives in a backup rotation set (just like you can set up in Windows Server Backup).  So I want to be able to have one backup job that will allow you to swap the external drive (using the same drive letter for both drives).  This would enable there to be one external drive connected and backing up and one being stored off site.

I can't find anywhere to really set this up specifically.

Thanks,

Rob,

Welcome to the Forum,

The application is not designed to work like that so I doubt you will have any success with it.  The best way is to create 2 seperate backup tasks, one for each disk.  That will prevent the internal database from getting corrupted which is what usually happens when this scheme is tried.

Ditto to Enchantech.  Your scheme will still work as backup will just run when the other drive is connected, using the other drive letter.  Keeping each drive to it's own task and it's own letter will avoid issues and still give you the ability to have one drive offsite and rotate them in and out each week.  If you want real peace of mind, you could then robocopy or sync both drives to one additional, larger drive or NAS or RAID device (onsite for easy, local access) so that you also always have the secondary disks backups onhand locally too.

Thanks guys.  Their support did not confirm if it could be done with two different jobs.  You have answered my question.
