Where is Recovery in 2017?

Thread needs solution

Long term user of Acronis, dip back in from time to time to see how stupid it's become (love using True Image 2010 for its tools and style).

Had to restore a back up of a trashed partition yesterday, thought I'd try version 2017 out for a giggle.

Couldn't easily see where the Recovery option was?

Tried every nook and cranny of the pretty icons and BIG BUTTONS (for Dummies, I presume) and still couldn't reach a Recovery option anywhere.

Where's it gone?  Do you need a secret password or magic crystal?  :)

Michael, welcome back to the forums for your dip back in...!

The Recovery options depend on where you are running ATIH 2017 from:

If you are trying this from within Windows (not recommended if attempting to recover the Windows OS) then you must first select an existing backup after which you will be given two buttons offering the choice of Recover files or Recover disks

If you have no backup task or don't see any backup to choose, then you would need to click on the v to the right of Add backup and take the further option to Add existing backup then select the backup .tib file you want to try to recover.  Once added, you can do as above to see the Recover options.

If you are using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media to boot your computer and do the Recovery, then this should look very familiar to you from the earlier releases.

See the MVP User Guides and How To's on Google Drive then look for ATIH 2017 Disk Restore.PDF that is a tutorial document which shows the panels in the Rescue Media for ATIH 2017 showing how to do a recovery by that method.
