Which version to buy: Upgrade or New

Thread needs solution

I own Acronis True Image 2015 and have the disk. And I have to re-install Windows 10 due to unresolved corruption, but I don't want to re-install the old Acronis software. Is there a strategy for installing the upgrade 2017 version in a Windows 10 system which doesn't have the 2015 verson? The answer to this question will guide me to which version to buy.

Thank you in advance,

Vic

I believe what you will do is enter the license number for the 2017 version and then it will ask for the license number for the 2015 version. You should not need to 2015 version installed.

That's how it worked when I bought a 2017 for my new PC when I previously had the 2014 license.

You definitely do not need the old version installed; you will just be asked to enter the serial number for the licence you are using for the upgrade.

Keep an eye on the pricing, sometimes there is no difference between the full version and the upgrade version, and I have seen instances when special offers result in the full version being cheaper.

You may wish to wait a week or two when ATI 2018 will be released. While Acronis usually allow a free upgrade if you purchase within 30 days (I think it is) of the release of a new version, it may be better to wait as they sometimes change product offerings and price structure when a new version of ATI is released. Often this results in you getting a better deal.
