Windows 10 Update Fails due to Acronis fragments in registry

Thread needs solution

Windows 10 ver 1703 update failed and it said the resolution was to remove Acronis.  I used Revo Pro to remove Acronis and all the "roots" it could find in the directory and I also used the Acronis program to remove registry fragments.  All this was to no avail as the update still fails for the same reason.  Has anyone else had this problem and, better yet, has anyone a solution to this problem?

I assume you mean build 1803. I have not had this problem. However the Win10 version update process is notorious for classifying compliant programs as non-compliant.

It may be that there is something lurking on your system that is left over from an ancient version of ATI, which is triggering the problem. This should have been removed when you used the clean-up tool.

Using Revo Pro may have muddied the waters. The only suggestion I can make is to fire up the recovery media and revert the installation to the state at the last back-up of your system disk. The use Windows Programs and Features to uninstall Acronis, then use the Acronis Clean-up Tool. You could also try the update with Acronis in place.

It occurs to me that changing he way you do the upgrade may impact on the result. Are you upgrading via windows update, or by another method (from Windows 10 build 1903 disk image or by going to the Windows 10 update page).

Please keep us informed of your progress.
