Windows 11 Install Failure

Thread needs solution

I bought a new Windows 11 desktop computer and tried to install my True Image 2017 software from the DVD. I disabled my Norton 360 antivirus software and it still fails to load. The build is 8065 and the install failed with the following message.

Program Compatibility Assistant
A driver cannot load on this device.
Driver: tib.sys
tib.sys
A security setting is preventing this driver from loading. You'll need to adjust your settings to load this driver.

Any idea what security setting I need to change so the install will work properly.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Larry, welcome to these public User Forums.

This is a known issue and only resolved by Acronis in build 40107 or later of Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office which now offers a Custom Install option where users can now elect not to install the 'Try&Decide tool' feature (which brings the tib.sys driver to Windows).

For users of older versions of Acronis, see forum topic: Incompatible Driver(s): tib.sys? | Acronis Forum for information on how to circumvent the issue by renaming tib.sys to such as tib.~sys or by removing the associated registry entry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\tib

Note: you may need to do a Safe mode start of Windows to action the above options.

Thanks for the response, Steve. Do I understand correctly that the latest versions of the Acronis True Image replacement also do not work on Windows 11 without making this change? That just seems to be an unacceptable business model to remove a sizable portion of the customer base.
Anyway, I'll try your suggestion and see what happens.

Larry, with the latest ACPHO version, users can now do a Custom Install where one of the options offered is to not install the Try & Decide feature that provides the tib.sys kernel driver.

If Memory Integrity/Core Isolation is turned off, will ATI 2017 then install?
