15097: Compatibility of Acronis Software with Dataram RAMDisk

Thread needs solution

Hallo,

Hello, I intend to use the Dataram RAMdisc software. There is talk of incompatibilities with Acronis snapAPI drivers and referred to the knowledgebase article 15097. My important question for me is: 1. Is this problem with my True Image Home 2018 still? 2. Where can I check on a Windows 10 computer, which snapAPI version is installed (version number)? Greetings daniel.

Daniel,  welcome to these public User Forums.

KB 15097: Compatibility of Acronis Software with Dataram RAMDisk - refers to very old Acronis Backup and True Image Echo products from nearly 10 years ago and was fixed in a new version of SNAPAPI released at that time.  There should be no issue with more recent versions of ATI such as 2018 or 2019, but I would recommend having a full Disk backup of your computer before testing this combination of software so that you have a recovery path if needed.

steve, thank you very much. do you think its to dangerous to use the ram disk software? daniel.

Daniel, the approach of using a RAMdisk should not be dangerous other than the risk to any data stored within such a virtual drive should you suffer from a power failure or a system crash, given that all that data is actually stored in memory.

You may wish to consider comparing the cost of this software solution compared to the lowering cost of investing in SSD technology which should match the performance and be more stable in the above failure scenarios.
