500 error License Transfer

Thread solved

Trying to transfer my 2018 license to a backup laptop and getting a 500 error. Asking for email and password. Password issue even after generating a new password. In the past the resolve window would open and I was able to transfer the license with a few clicks. Need urgent help. Thank you.

Thank you for the response. The link you provided does not solve the problem. There is no activate offline option. The licensed machine I'm trying to transfer to is running windows 7 with Acronis 2018.  The KB doesn't read on the window options for 2018. For example, first window, 2 options, create bootable media OR resolve problem. Second window, options, changed HD or installed on new computer. Third window, move license, buy new, enter new serial number.

The Acronis Cloud sign in window keeps asking me to log into my account and I do not have nor want a Cloud account. This was never an issue in the past. Prior to, I was able to move the license by simply clicking on the backup laptop and move the license between laptops without issue on either machine.

What policy change has Acronis made recently to prevent me from transferring my 2018 license from one machine to another? Forced upgrades?

All licenses are registered to an Acronis account which is not related to Acronis Cloud - the latter is a subscription product providing cloud storage capacity.

To move a perpetual license you do need to sign in to the Acronis account where that license has been registered.

The only other factor that has changed is in regards to security when accessing Acronis servers for which Acronis produced new build updates back in late 2021 for ATI 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021 versions that include changes to security.  These latest / final builds of the installers can be found in your Acronis Account downloads page for the registered version or else via the Acronis Product Updates web page.

I had no problem doing just this with ATI 2018 a few weeks ago.

Did you click the Resolve Problem button? I can't recall exactly how it worked, but click through a few quick things got it all running fine.

This is beyond frustrating. I'm at the point where I'm willing to walk away from this experience and product.

"To move a perpetual license you do need to sign in to the Acronis account where that license has been registered."

I signed into the Acronis account per your instruction. I'm simply trying to move the license from one computer to another. I'm not attempting to move the license to any other computer outside of both computers I've backed up with the same license since 2018.

A window keeps asking for my account password. I input my password that results in the following Error message: An error occurred while signing in. If I sign in without going through the RESOLVE PROBLEM window, I have no issues signing into my account with the same password that just caused an error.

I don't ever recall having to jump through these many hoops in the past. It was a simple resolve problem and transfer from one laptop to the other.

The below window appears after clicking through resolve, move license from another computer. When I input my password I receive a password error. Something has changed in the transfer process. This is the sticking point that I can't move beyond.

Check on the Account page in ATI 2018 for what Build version you have installed?  This needs to be #15560 to include the security fixes to access Acronis servers.

They don't pay you enough. Updated and viola. Magic. All good. Acronis should have sent a notification to update.

Thank you so much!
