Acronis 2018 keeps recreating old folders on my backup drive

Thread needs solution

I use Acronis 2018 to backup my windows desktop PC. I run my backups into folders named with the date on my backup drive. I delete my old, unwanted backup folders, but Acronis 2018 recreates them every time I start it up. I don't recall this problem with my older versions of Acronis.

I read that I can fix this issue by removing these folder locations from my 'vaults'. If this is indeed how to fix it, please would some-one tell me where the vaults management option is in the Acronis 2018 menus. I cannot find it and it is not referenced in the help index, as far as I can see

Many thanks

Lid, how exactly are you deleting your old, unwanted backup folders?  If you are doing this outside of the main ATI GUI by using Windows Explorer, then this does not update the associated information held in the internal Acronis Database.

After making any manual deletions of any Acronis backup files / folders for tasks that still exist in the ATI GUI, you should always perform a Validation for the tasks that created the deleted files, as this is the only way to reconcile the information in the database.  Validation will give an error pop-up message for each missing file!

Thanks. Yes I delete them from windows explorer as I am not aware how to delete them from within the main ATI GUI.

I will try the validation method you have described.

Update : I tried it - it just about works, but it is a somewhat cumbersome process that I never had to do with previous versions. I do feel that Acronis are trying to be a bit too clever with this offering.
