Acronis indicated all cloud backup data deleted!
Unbelievable! I just installed ATI 2018 on a new laptop and got the following message:
"Acronis True Image Subscription has Expired. All cloud data was deleted"
I almost keeled over! To make a long story short, I finally got Acronis to accept my license key. So, now I could restore files from my old 15 inch laptop backup to my new 17" laptop -- Wrong! I'm trying to restore files from the following directory, but it is not on the cloud backup:
C:\Users\bernie\App Data
Why is this directory not backed up?

Well, after the 4th or 5th attempt, ATI accepted my license (again). I was able to find the hidden AppData folder by double clicking on the .tib file, then enabled the viewing of hidden files.
I was not aware you could double click on a .tib file and see the files inside! That's awesome!
So my remaining question is, in ATI when doing a restore, is it possible to see hidden folders?

Bernard, sorry to hear of the various problems you have described. Activation for ATI 2018 has seemed to be an issue for some users, but this has mainly been where the PC's have been disconnected from the internet or have been using Proxy server configurations. If this applies to you then I would recommend opening a Support Case with Acronis so that this gets resolved and does not keep coming back to annoy you further!
The ability to double click and explore the contents of any .TIB file has been present for as long as I can remember and is achieved by the Windows shell integration when ATI is installed. As such, it obeys the display rules set for Windows Explorer, so will only show hidden / system files when configured to do so.
Any files that are contained within the .TIB file can be found and restored using the normal ATI Recovery options. The main check point here is with regards to permissions / authorities associated with such files or folders - if you are restoring files to a different system, or even the same system after doing a rebuild etc, then it is advisable not to restore them with their original permissions and authorities as this can lead to problems accessing the files / folders. Note: it is not sufficient to just create a user profile of the same name as the original owner as this will not match the original profile unique id.

In reply to Bernard, sorry to hear of… by truwrikodrorow…

Well, I wanted to restore one app configuration file from my old laptop in C:\Users\bernie\AppData\... On my new laptop, I could not see the hidden directory AppData UNLESS I searched for it. Then I was able to see it. But I was unable to select it because ATI just kept searching. Also, when I double clicked on the .tib file, and configured Explorer to view hidden files, I was able to see it.
Is it possible to restore files in a hidden directory like AppData from the ATI backup using ATI?
-Thanks

Bernard, I am sure that it is possible to restore files from a hiddYou en folders such as AppData from a .tib file using ATI.
You can use the option to 'Add existing backup' if the backup was created on a different system, then open the Recovery page in ATI 2018 and navigate to the folder / files you want to recover.
You would then select the files / folders, click on Next and select where to recover the files to - I would not recommend using the original location unless you are 100% confident this will be OK and not cause any problems.
Next, click on the Recovery options button and set the correct file recovery options.
